SignalScout surfaces a lot of signal. But not every signal matters equally to everyone — a founder prospecting pipeline reads their dashboard differently than a CMO optimizing content reach or an investor tracking emerging founders.

The Intent Profile is how you tell SignalScout who you are and what you're optimizing for. Once set, it shapes the labels, highlights, and action recommendations across your entire dashboard — so the same underlying data surfaces the insights that matter to you.

Where to Find It

Your Intent Profile lives in Account Settings — navigate to /settings or click the Settings link in your dashboard navigation.

Scroll past the Subscription section and you'll find the Intent Profile card. It takes about 60 seconds to configure and you can update it any time.

What you'll configure:

  • Your role — Founder/CEO, Sales Executive, Marketing Lead, Investor, or Other
  • Primary goal — Build pipeline, Grow content reach, Competitive intelligence, or Recruiting
  • Target job titles — comma-separated ICP titles (e.g. VP Sales, Head of Growth, CTO)
  • Target industries — comma-separated ICP industries (e.g. SaaS, FinTech, Enterprise Software)
  • Insight tone — Tactical & direct, or Strategic & narrative

How Your Role Changes the Dashboard

Once your role and goal are set, SignalScout re-frames language across the Pulse, Insights, and Actions tabs. The underlying data is identical — only the framing shifts to match what's meaningful for your context.

Founder / CEO

  • Pulse summary → "Pipeline pulse"
  • New engagers → "New prospects"
  • Actions header → "Pipeline opportunities"
  • Top accounts → "Top accounts by signal strength"

Sales Executive

  • Pulse summary → "Buyer signal summary"
  • New engagers → "New buyer signals"
  • Actions header → "Active buyer opportunities"
  • Top accounts → "Buyer accounts by engagement"

Marketing Lead

  • Pulse summary → "Audience engagement pulse"
  • New engagers → "New audience members"
  • Actions header → "Content amplification opportunities"
  • Top accounts → "Top amplifier accounts"

Investor

  • Pulse summary → "Founder signal summary"
  • New engagers → "New founder signals"
  • Actions header → "Founder signal opportunities"
  • Top accounts → "High-signal founder accounts"

These label changes are purely presentational — no data is filtered or hidden. You can switch your role at any time and the dashboard updates immediately.

ICP Matching: Surface Your Ideal Buyers

The most powerful part of the Intent Profile is ICP matching. When you enter target job titles and industries, SignalScout scans every engager in your Influenced tab and flags anyone who matches.

Matching engagers get a ★ ICP badge next to their name and an amber highlight on their row. You can also toggle the ICP only filter to show exclusively matched engagers — turning your entire Influenced tab into a curated list of ideal buyers.

How matching works

  • 1.You enter target titles like VP Sales, Head of Growth, CTO
  • 2.SignalScout checks each engager's LinkedIn title and industry for substring matches
  • 3.Any engager whose title contains "VP Sales" or "Head of Growth" (case-insensitive) is flagged as an ICP match
  • 4.Toggle the ICP filter on to work exclusively through your matched audience

If no ICP keywords are set, the filter and badges won't appear — SignalScout only activates matching once you've defined your ICP.

Insight Tone: Tactical vs. Strategic

The tone preference controls how insights are framed — not what data is shown, but how it's communicated.

Tactical & direct

Give me the action, skip the context

Best for: Sales executives and founders who want clear next steps without narrative framing.

Strategic & narrative

Help me see the bigger picture

Best for: Marketers and investors who want context around why a signal matters before acting on it.

Onboarding Modal: Your First Setup

New users see a 3-step onboarding modal the first time they log in. It walks through the same fields as the Intent Profile card in Settings — role, goal, ICP titles/industries, and tone preference.

You can skip the modal and configure your profile later from Settings. If you skipped it, just navigate to /settings and fill in the Intent Profile card there.

The modal only shows once — after you complete or skip it, it won't reappear. Your profile persists across sessions and devices.
